Supporting Faith-based Victims and Survivors of Stalking
Many people don’t know what stalking is. Stalking encompasses a range of behaviors designed to intimidate and control the victim. It may involve following, threatening or harassing the victim, unwanted gifts or communications, and other behaviors that cause fear.
Stalking isn’t easy to talk about. It is sometimes considered shameful or swept under the rug, and some people may think that it certainly couldn’t happen in OUR community. But unfortunately, it happens in every community.
In fact, nearly 1 in 3 women and 1 in 6 men have experienced stalking at some point in their lifetime. New research shows that stalking is more dangerous than we used to think, and can even be a precursor to serious injury.
